Is the Volt for the lazy guy?

Now that the early estimated gas mileage figures are out ton the Chevy Volt, those being 230 mpg, we will be thinking about the realities of the early Volts. Here’s the thing…you have to plug it in each time you come home!! Sounds like an easy thing. But we are very used to pulling in the driveway, getting our stuff – we always have stuff- hitting the lock button on the key chain and forgetting about everything we can so that we can recuperate for tomorrow. If you have a Volt, you have to go find whatever power linkup you’re using and plug it in. I’m sure that in the future, this process will be made simpler, but initially, it will be costly and cumbersome. How many times do we pick up the cell only to find out that we forgot to plug it in the night before and now have no battery? We haven’t yet focused on these practicalities yet because the Volt, et.al., are not realities. But they will be. For $40,000 and a new job to do in the dead of winter – looking for that plug in receptacle – the American auto consumer might not fall over him/herself to get one of the first models. A lot will depend on the price of gas in a year! However, the first computers were clunky and expensive, too. I still believe that this type of technology is the future.
