To the Swedes go the Saabs!

GM and Chrysler are starting to make headlines reminiscent of the NFL free agency period! You have to check the newspaper in the morning to see where your favorite NFL star and American auto brand will be next. GM finally unloaded the money losing Saab brand to a Swedish company. What does all this mean to you and I, the American car buying public? No one knows for sure except, like the stock market, uncertainty is not a good thing. Now that the Hummer, Saab, Saturn and Pontiac issues are resolved, it is more certain that Buick, Chevy and Cadillac are brands that can be counted on to have more stable worth in five years if you bought one now. When a automotive line is discontinued, support might be there in the short run but resale and trade in value take a big hit. At least, now we know what to shop for.
