Ford – The next American Idol?
Apr 23rd, 2009 by gmoran
Last night, 45 million votes were cast by American Idol fans seeking to keep their favorites in the competition. Ford, being one of the prime sponsors of the show, took full advantage of the high interest in Idol to push for its bid to be in the finals as well. Tonight’s sleek new video displayed the Ford Flex from many angles. Idol’s huge viewing audience saw the Flex’s eye catching maroon/white color design once again – colors that suggest “contemporary” and “hot”. The frontal views left a high end impression of the Flex that justifies the its pricing. But the camera also showed a couple of full length views that left the audience wondering if this was an SUV, a station wagon/minivan or a mini-limo. One thing it definitely isn’t is a Scion wannabe. This is a hot vehicle whose image justifies its name in that it is absolutely flexible in its function. Then, Ford scored a one-two punch with an ad that squarely hit the credit issue by frankly stating that Ford financing is loaning money. Of course they didn’t exactly say to who. For all the viewers know, their credit score may have to be up there with a scholarship level SAT score! But Ford said loud and clear that they have cars that Americans will want and they are willing to finance them. This aired on a day that GM announced that much of their operation will take a 9 week summer hiatus. Seems like we may not have to guess who will win American Auto Idol this year.
