Let the Red Tag Sales Begin!

Today’s headlines announcing that car sales are at 25 year lows are another bleak reminder that if the consumer was slowing down before, he/she is now wearing a hardhat. When the world leaders come together in such a short time with billions of prime pumping cash to avoid the next Great Depression, I guess it’s not surprise that buyers are frightened beyond reality. But General Motors said they would be rolling out the Red Tag Sales on Tuesday. They have to sell cars no matter what! Last time there was a downturn in 2001-03, many including me benefited with some amazing deals. Prices, cash back offers, etc. will be ratcheted higher in the coming months. Now is the time to shop, not to hunker down. If you’re thinking about that Chevy, Chrysler or for that matter, most models, it’s time to do some homework. Pay special attention to fuel efficiency vs initial price. A great deal on a straight up gas engine might save you more than that hybrid that’s not marked down. Libor is down big time and money for loans is starting to flow. Good Luck – hope you get that once in a lifetime deal!
