Gas by Class – Off-Roaders
Oct 9th, 2008 by gmoran
Are there any possibilities of fuel efficiency without the hybrid upcharge when the function is off-road activities? The Jeep Patriot 4×4 was developed as a fuel efficient SUV and is rated at 22 mpg in city driving and 27 mpg on the road. It is offered in FWD or two 4×4 versions. Freedom Drive I is suited for basic off road activities while Freedom Drive II will take on heavier terrain with additional $1,315 added to the price tag. MSRP is $18,125 with a 2.4 liter, 172 horsepower engine. The Jeep Patriot 4×4 has an interior with ample creature comforts for those who don’t always have mud on their boots! Although it doesn’t get hybrid mileage in the city, at the entry price point and mileage figures, it’s a good alternative for the next 3-5 years until technology develops more models that use less gasoline and still bring you to back road destinations.
