Dan Strumpf, Associated Press, reports the latest survey findings from the American Customer Satisfaction Index taken by the Univ. of Mich. Consumer satisfaction with U.S. auto brands declined in favor of Lexus, BMW, Toyota and Honda. Buick, Cadillac, Lincoln and Mercury fell. U.S. brands have been improving but not as much as foreign companies. The spread from highest to lowest is 11 points but American automakers are having a tougher time with fuel efficiency and this is showing up in weaker consumer demand. The borderline luxury car consumer may find it easier to manage a higher car payment driving a BMW as opposed to a Cadillac
