Swappable Battery Electric Cars on the Way

Will Renault-Nissan invest close to a billion dollars in Project Better Place (a California based company) currently working on an Israeli backed Electric Car project? That’s the word from Better Place CEO Shai Agassi who indicated as much at a recent news conference to introduce the prototype for this project. According to Agassi, Renault-Nissan is in for anywhere between $500 million to a billion dollars. The goal is to mass produce these electric cars which will contain swappable-battery technology by 2010.
Denmark has already signed a letter of intent to introduce the electric cars and plans to use wind power as the predominant source for charging the batteries.
